EMDR Intensives

EMDR Therapy in Ontario, CA

Extended, focused sessions built to move you through trauma faster than weekly therapy ever could.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a complete therapy — it's so much more than just the reprocessing phase you may be familiar with. It includes 8 phases: history gathering, preparation, desensitization, a body scan, and reevaluation. EMDR reorganizes how memories are stored in the brain, so the negative beliefs, emotions, and body sensations tied to a difficult experience can be modified and replaced with positive, adaptive ones. It's collaborative and client-centered — you're always an active participant.

What an EMDR Intensive Looks Like

An intensive trades the standard weekly hour for a longer, uninterrupted block of time - anywhere from a half day to several days in a row. Instead of spreading your work across months of Tuesdays, you spend real, sustained hours in the process, which lets your nervous system stay in the flow of healing rather than restarting from scratch every seven days.

Most sessions run 4-6 hours a day, with a lunch break built into any day that passes the four-hour mark.

Is an Intensive Right for You?

This format tends to fit best if you:

Feel stuck despite years of traditional weekly therapy

Are managing PTSD, complex trauma, or a specific memory that keeps resurfacing

Are moving through a major life transition or high-stress period

Have limited time or geographic access for ongoing weekly sessions

Are ready to commit real, focused time to your healing rather than fitting it around everything else

A Note on EMDR and IFS

EMDR is the foundation of every intensive I run. I draw on Internal Family Systems when EMDR needs support moving through a particular block, but IFS is never the primary approach here - the work stays focused on the fastest, most direct path to relief.

Clients leave feeling lighter like a weight has been lifted, feeling like they have autonomy and choice, mental clarity, a stronger trust in self, a new perspective.
